Oye’s Unique Essentials — Business Pitch Deck
Project Type: Business Writing | Pitch Deck Copywriting
The Brief: Oye’s Unique Essentials needed a pitch deck that could do two things at once: tell a deeply human story and present a credible, data-backed business case.
The founder, a hard-of-hearing entrepreneur, had a compelling journey and real revenue numbers, but needed those elements shaped into a document that would resonate with investors and stakeholders.
My Approach: I structured the pitch around the founder’s personal narrative first, framing her disability not as a limitation but as a demonstration of resilience and market insight. I then systematically built out the business case: products, target market, sales channels, and year-on-year revenue performance, grounding every claim in real figures.
Key writing decisions included:
- Opening with identity and story to establish an emotional connection before presenting financials
- Presenting revenue data (including a 150% profit margin on nightwear and 233% on key holders) in a clean table format for immediate readability
- Framing the communication model (text-first, as a deaf entrepreneur) as a feature of the business rather than a limitation
The Result: Recommended for grant pitching with a score of 44/50″.

Case Study
Project Title
Thin Layer Drying Characteristics and Probiotics Value of Wet, Dried and Cooked Ogi Samples Made from Maize, Sorghum and Millet
Associated with Federal University of Agriculture Abeokuta
Project Type
Academic Research Report / Scientific Report Writing
Project Overview
This research project focused on studying the effect of low drying temperatures on the viability of probiotic strains present in ogi produced from maize, sorghum, and millet. The study involved wet samples, dried samples at different temperatures, and cooked ogi samples to evaluate moisture loss, microbial survival, and probiotic stability.
Objective
The objective of the research was to determine whether low-temperature drying could preserve probiotic microorganisms present in fermented ogi samples and to analyze the drying characteristics and microbial content of the samples.
Methodology
The cereals were processed using natural spontaneous fermentation to produce ogi. The pH and total titratable acidity of the fermented water were measured to determine acidity levels and microbial safety.
Drying experiments were conducted at three different temperatures: 40°C, 45°C, and 50°C to determine moisture loss in the samples. Moisture loss was measured using a digital electronic balance.
Microbial analysis was carried out on wet, dried, and cooked samples. Colony count was performed using a colony counter, and morphological, microscopic, and biochemical tests were conducted to identify microbial isolates.
Data obtained from the experiments were analyzed using Analysis of Variance (ANOVA), and mean separation was performed using Duncan’s Multiple Range Test.
Outcome
The results showed that probiotic strains survived the three drying temperatures used in the drying process, with no significant difference observed (p < 0.05). The study demonstrated that low-temperature drying can help preserve probiotic microorganisms in ogi samples made from maize, sorghum, and millet.
Skills Demonstrated

Business Plan, Financial Summary & Grant Application
Project Type: Business Writing | Business Plan | Financial Documentation | Grant Application Copywriting
The Brief
Following a successful earlier engagement, a business pitch deck that scored 44/50 and was recommended for grant pitching, the client returned for a more comprehensive project. The founder needed three interconnected deliverables to support a formal grant application to a competitive national business accelerator programme:
- A comprehensive, investor-grade business plan
- A structured financial summary following the grant’s official template
- Tailored written responses for every question on the online application form
The business is a CAC-registered retail and e-commerce brand with multiple years of profitable operations, a loyal customer base, and a strong founder story, all built without any external funding.
My Approach
The business plan was built entirely from scratch using detailed information gathered directly from the founder. Every section was written to reflect how the business actually operates, its sourcing model, sales channels, fulfilment process, and operational structure, rather than relying on generic business plan language.
Key writing decisions included:
- Structuring the document to serve dual purposes: a standalone reference and a persuasive investment case
- Grounding every claim in real, verifiable business data provided by the founder
- Including dedicated operation plan and Management sections built from actual day-to-day business details
- Framing identified operational gaps as planned, strategic solutions, turning potential weaknesses into evidence of self-awareness and growth readiness
- Maintaining the founder’s authentic voice and personal narrative throughout, ensuring the document felt genuinely hers
For the financial summary, I built a fully structured multi-sheet Excel workbook aligned with the grant’s official template, covering key assumptions, historical performance data, three-year financial projections, grant budget allocation, and a summary dashboard, all with auto-calculated formulas validated to zero errors.
For the application form, I wrote tailored responses for every question, each within the specified word count limits, covering the problem statement, product uniqueness, revenue model, traction, competitive differentiation, growth plan, grant utilisation, and social impact. All responses were written in first person, ready for the founder to review and submit directly.
Deliverables
- Comprehensive business plan — 14 sections, fully formatted Word document
- Multi-sheet financial summary Excel workbook, validated formulas, zero errors
- Full set of grant application form responses, word-count compliant, first person
- Supporting pitch deck, built from scratch following the grant’s official template structure
Skills Demonstrated
- Business plan writing and structuring
- Financial documentation and spreadsheet building
- Grant application copywriting
- Translating founder interviews into professional, investor-ready documents
- Writing in a client’s voice while maintaining factual accuracy and strategic clarity
